The Chairman welcomed all those present and opened the 9th commitee meeting for the Thakali Welfare Society UK at 12:25pm.He also reiterated the importance of attending the meeting and briefly highlighted theimportance of the meeting and the forthcoming events.

He started a meeting with a minute silence for late Biraj Sherchan who died on 11th June '08 and on behalf of the society,he conveyed deepest sympathy and sincere condolence Mr.Raj Kapoor Sherchan and his family.

Appreciation to Mr.Min Bahadur Sherchan :On successful climbing of Mt.Everest,Thakali Welfare Society UK,has recognise and apperciate his courage at his age and inlightining the name of Thakali around the world, all thakali member annonmiously voted for to raise fund to be used for either his future use of another challenging event or to help in finance for his medical treatment.The following two men has been appointed to investigate what should be done in the future and the feed back report is to be updated in AGM on 26th July '08 (a) Mr.Dil Gauchan (b)Capt.Uttam Sherchan

Please note that TWS UK, has published his recognition on Nepali Patra and Nepali Sandesh.A certificate of Appreciation and Khada will be given in later date.

The Treasurer,Mr.Rem Pd Sherchan gave his income and expenditure in detail and as of 15 June '08 the society's fund stand at £11359.76 in credit.

The Chairman stated that an audit of the fund will be carried out once a year and he will deligate two men team in due course

AGM/Tara:- Competition The Secretary is taking responsibility for running of AGM and the Sport IC,Mr.Amrit Sherchan and his assistant Mr.Ganesh Sherchan is asked to run the inter chan Tara Compitition straight after the AGM.

FALO/BBQ:- The organiser FALO '08 Mr.Rajendra Gauchan has distrubuted a draft instruction for the day and briefly explained the day and responsibility.

Drinks Price :-The Asst sport IC, Mr. Ganesh Sherchan proposed the increase the price of drinks as it hasnot been increase for the past five years.After a brief discussion the committee and decided that the following price will be implement from the coming events (a) Beer £1.20 (b) Soft Drinks £0.60 and (c)Hard drinks £1.50 per Tot.

Sports/Archery Day :- As agreed in last meeting Feb '08,Thakali Welfare Society UK is going to run the Archery /sports competition for all UK Nepalese Society on 31st Aug '08.However the alternative sport of Volleyball was discussed but due to unpopularity it was declined and only Archery will be held.The Sports in charge Mr.Amrit Sherchan and Mr.Ganesh Sherchan are asked to lead and to produce the detail insturction by July 2008.

Life Membership :- After a lengthy discussion the chairman and the committee anomously echoed and agreed that all committee member and the advisor are to take life member.Those who has difficult in paying one lump of sum will be pain within three month from meeting date, the benefit of being life member will be detailed and laid down in the constitution.

Membership :- The subscription of Membership will be increased from next year which will be discussed more on coming AGM. The committee also decided that married couple and single living separately will not come under the parent's membership.

Membership Data :-The assistant secretary has distributed a complete data to area rep and have requested to foreward any changed as soon as possible.After a brief discussion and due to data protection it has been decided that only the name and initial adress in UK and Nepal would be included in the Thakali web.Later on Mr.Navin Kumar Gauchan suggested to include "Khieu" upon which all agreed.

A copy of current constitution was distrubuted to each committee member on Feb '08 and was asked to read through in their own time and forward their comments,suggestion and amendment by 15 Jun '08.Unfortunately with no comments being received so the Chairman formed a working committee team and has instructed and asked to submit a draft comp of amended constitution by 25 Jan '09.The committee has also requested that the constitution should have to be written,align with the UK law and regulation and of course the Thakali culture mustnot be forgotten.

Working Committee Members

The forecast of TWS, UK events are as follows

a.Late Master Biraj Sherchan :-Thakali Welfare Society UK has manage to raise the sum of £4643.00 and the total amount of sum has been handed over to Mr.Raj Kapoor Sherchan on 17th June '08. The Chairman has already been released the detail contribution both by Thakali member and non- thakali members.However should anyone contribute then pls contact to Major Bijayant Sherchan.

b.Butwal Thakali Sewa Samiti :- The donation has not been completed due to some of the area rep not being able to raise enough donation.However all area rep are advised that this has to be completed by coming AGM,so that money can be handed over after Falo.

c.Dhaulashiri Yugbani: This book was published in memory of late Poetry writer Mr.Bhupi Sherchan to raise fund for the Library.After unsuccessful selling in Toranlha '08 it was decided to distribute this book to all thakali members in Falo '08 and 10% drinks profit will be put aside to donate for this worthy case.

The property team leader Mr.Navin Kumar Gauchan outline the current situation of property market and gave his restriction and constraint of current society's fund and he suggested that it would not be worth to start looking until the society fund reaches atleast £350000.00 or more.Thus all committee member,advisor and guest member has agreed not to discuss further until the society fun hits to £350000.00.However all area rep are advised to pass this issue to all members and asked to encourage to take the life membership before Falo '08,so that fund will be enough by AGM and can be process there on.

All members present have also given their thumps up in buying shares in business investment. The secertary, Mr.Keshar Sherchan proposed investment in Hotel business within the M25 circle would be very successful and also ideal as it is the almost the centre point for all society if there is to be get together.

The chairman explained the selection of future committee and how it should be run in forthcoming selection,as the selection for chairman is due in Jan '09.Mr.Shyam sherchan proposed that the selection of chairman have to take place on the actual day but Mr.Navin Kumar Sherchan suggested that it would be appropriate advance notice is helpful.This will be discussed in AGM and the selection committee will be formed there on.For the time being due to the constitution being rewritten. Mr. Resham Sherchan was asked to produce a draft constitution for the selection committee by 26th July '08.

Capt.Uttam Sherchan congratulated on behalf of all thakali pariwar UK to all Colchester Thakali Pariwar for successful organising the Toranlha '08.He also congrutalate Thakali Welfare Society UK in organising a successful funeral ceremoney of late Master Biraj Sherchan.
